Turkish Mobile Service Expands Into Syria

Turkcell subscribers can now use their phones in Syria. The Turkish telecom operator launched international roaming there on Tuesday. CEO Ali Taha Koç announced the service expansion. It allows Turkcell customers traveling in Syria to make calls, send texts, and use data. Roaming lets a mobile phone connect to a foreign network. Users are charged international rates. The move establishes Turkcell as the first major Turkish operator to offer direct service in Syria. It provides connectivity for business, diplomatic, and family contacts across the border.
