Russian General Killed in Moscow as Odesa Hit Again in War's 1400th Day

Russian forces attacked Ukraine's port of Odesa twice in one day, damaging facilities and a ship. Regional governor Oleh Kiper said emergency crews responded and reported no casualties. A previous overnight strike hit energy infrastructure, cutting power to tens of thousands. In Moscow, a Russian general was killed by a car bomb. Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov died when an explosive device detonated under his vehicle. Russian investigators called it a likely assassination by Ukrainian intelligence. Ukraine has not claimed responsibility. Peace talks involving the US are ongoing. Donald Trump said negotiations are going "OK." His envoy previously described discussions with Ukrainian and European representatives as "productive." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said initial US peace proposals meet many of Kyiv's demands. He acknowledged neither side would get everything it wanted.
