Brown Custodian Warned of "Casing" Before Campus Shooting

A custodian at Brown University reported a suspicious man "casing" an engineering building weeks before a shooting on campus, according to a new report. Derek Lisi told The Boston Globe he saw the suspect near the building about 10 times starting in early January. Lisi said the man's behavior seemed like he was studying the location, a practice known as "casing." Lisi notified campus security of his concerns. The suspect, a 29-year-old former university employee, was arrested after a non-fatal shooting on February 2. The incident occurred at the same engineering building Lisi had identified. University officials have confirmed they are reviewing all prior reports and interactions related to the suspect. The investigation into the shooting and the earlier warnings is ongoing.
