A senior Russian general was killed by a car bomb in southern Moscow on Monday.
Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, 56, died when an explosive device detonated under his parked vehicle. The attack occurred in a residential area.
Sarvarov led the training department of the Russian General Staff, a key military branch.
The killing happened as Russian officials described "slow progress" in talks with the United States about ending the war in Ukraine.
