As the new year approaches, consumers in Turkey are bracing for higher prices on alcohol and tobacco products.
The expected price hikes are linked to two main factors. First, an increase in Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) rates is anticipated. The ÖTV is an excise tax applied to specific goods.
Second, rising production and distribution costs are also putting pressure on prices. Industry experts say these combined costs will directly affect final retail prices.
The changes could be announced in the coming days, just before the New Year's holiday period.
