France to Build New Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, Macron Announces in UAE
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced plans to build a new nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. He called the project a "display of the nation's power." Macron made the statement during a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was there to celebrate Christmas with French troops stationed in the Gulf nation. The French leader also met with the Emirati president. Their talks focused on strengthening ties between the two countries and promoting Middle East stability. The UAE is a key buyer of French military equipment. This includes advanced fighter jets and armored vehicles. The new carrier is meant to replace France's current flagship, the Charles de Gaulle, by around 2038.
