A Nigerian university has revived a key partnership with a top Chinese institution to train technology experts.
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria is restarting a double-degree programme with China's University of Electronic Science and Technology (UESTC). The programme aims to build advanced skills in critical tech fields.
ABU's Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar, confirmed the move in a statement on Sunday.
The programme will focus on electronics, information technology, and computer science. Students will study at both universities and receive two degrees. The goal is to produce engineers who can support Nigeria's growing technology sector.
The partnership first ran from 2014 to 2019. University officials say its return addresses a major shortage of highly-skilled tech professionals in Nigeria.
