A new series of powerful storms is threatening more flooding across California this week. This comes after weeks of heavy rain already caused severe damage in the Pacific Northwest.
The state faces another "atmospheric river." This is a long, narrow band in the atmosphere that carries huge amounts of water vapor. It will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to northern and central California.
Flood watches are now in effect for many areas, including Los Angeles. Forecasters warn of possible river and urban flooding. Some parts of northern California already received 50-75mm (2-3in) of rain this weekend.
The flood watches are expected to last until Friday. Officials urge residents to prepare for dangerous conditions.
