The U.S. Justice Department has restored a photograph of Donald Trump to the publicly released Jeffrey Epstein files. It had removed the image just one day earlier.
Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the removal "had nothing to do" with the president. He said officials took out 16 photos total after requests from victim advocacy groups.
The department said it restored the Trump image on Sunday. Officials concluded it did not risk exposing victims of the late convicted sex offender Epstein.
The unexplained removal on Saturday caused immediate criticism. Many Democrats accused the department of political interference to help Trump, who was once a friend of Epstein.
