Ukraine has accused a Russian military unit of forcibly taking 50 civilians across the border. The incident is described by Ukrainian officials as a "political provocation."
The events reportedly involved Russia’s 36th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade. Most of those taken were men.
Ukrainian authorities state this was not a military operation. They insist it was an illegal act of forced deportation from occupied territory. Russia has not yet commented on the specific allegations.
International law strictly prohibits the forced transfer of civilians from occupied areas.
