A controversial red card decision in Saturday's heated match between Tottenham and Liverpool is sparking debate. Players Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero were sent off. However, a challenge by Micky van de Ven that injured Alexander Isak did not result in a red card.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank criticized Simons's dismissal. "I don't think it's a reckless tackle," Frank told the BBC. "The referee's call was a yellow, so that's why I don't think that's a red."
Sunday's action features Aston Villa aiming for a tenth straight win. The Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament also begins.
