ANC Faces Voter Anger Over Water and Power Failures

📡 Guardian · 1 min read ·
South Africa's African National Congress (ANC) is heading toward a heavy loss in Wednesday's local elections, as voters express deep frustration over water outages, power cuts, and failing infrastructure. The ANC, the former liberation movement that Nelson Mandela led to power in 1994, is still expected to be the largest party. However, polls show it may win less than a third of the vote. That would be down from 45.6% in the last municipal elections in 2021 and 40.2% in the 2024 national elections.
