Ukrainian emergency services report that at least 24 people were killed in Russian airstrikes on the village of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. The attacks began Monday morning and continued throughout the day, according to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy claims the strikes targeted a school where people had gathered to receive emergency aid. This claim has not been independently confirmed.
In a post on X Monday evening, the president offered his "deepest condolences to their families and loved ones."
Rescue operations are ongoing at the site, though officials describe the work as difficult.
