Granddaughter's Sci-Fi Dreamscape Wins Photo Prize

A photographer's simple family day out produced an award-winning image. Anne Rayner captured the photo while visiting an art exhibition with her husband and her two-year-old granddaughter, Phoebe. The group visited the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, UK. There, they saw Harold Offeh's exhibition "The Mothership Collective 2.0." Rayner took the picture on her phone. It shows Phoebe mesmerized by a sci-fi inspired playscape. The scene features bold geometric shapes, strong colors, and dramatic shadows. Rayner's daughter-in-law was at home caring for Phoebe's infant twin brothers during the trip. The family had walked along the river, pointing out city landmarks, before arriving at the gallery. The exhibition remains open to the public until January 18.
