China and Oman called for a full ceasefire between the United States and Iran on Monday. The two nations demanded that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz be restored immediately.
The joint call came during talks in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. In a joint statement, Beijing and Muscat urged Washington and Tehran to resume dialogue. They said the talks should lead to a “comprehensive agreement that includes the nuclear issue.”
Both sides also affirmed their commitment to regional stability during the sultan’s “historic” visit.
