Hong Kong primary pupils to study AI under new technology subject
Hong Kong will introduce a new subject called information and innovation technology (IIT) in primary schools starting September 2028. The subject will be rolled out gradually and aims to improve students' digital literacy. Artificial intelligence (AI) will be one of its main highlights. Under the new curriculum, students as young as seven will learn about AI. They will be able to hold simple "conversations" with an AI system using basic prompts or commands. The Education Bureau said the goal of the "Information and Innovation Technology Curriculum Framework" is to prepare students for a technology-driven world.
