Starving residents of Oleshky, a Russian-held town in southern Ukraine, began evacuating on Friday. The operation is a joint relief effort by the opposing sides—the first of its kind in more than four years of war.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian Ombudsman Yana Lantratova spoke with journalists before departing for Oleshky. Their mission: to move local residents to a safe area during a local ceasefire linked to the humanitarian effort in the Kherson region.
