Russia Recruits 1,400 Africans to Fight in Ukraine as Families Demand Answers

African leaders and Russian officials are meeting at the Africa-Russia summit to discuss security, trade, and political cooperation. However, one sensitive issue is missing from the agenda: the recruitment of Africans to fight for Russia in Ukraine. More than 1,400 Africans have been enlisted since 2023. In Tunisia, concern is growing. Families of several men who traveled to Russia for work or study are still searching for answers about what happened to their loved ones.
