Brazil's Supreme Court has ordered an investigation into possible foreign funding of former President Jair Bolsonaro's election campaign. The move follows a complaint from the campaign of newly re-elected President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Lula's team accused Meta — the parent company of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram — of interfering in the election through "algorithmic manipulation," meaning its systems may have unfairly shaped what voters saw online. The court will now examine whether foreign money helped Bolsonaro's campaign and whether Meta's platforms played a role.
