The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced it will not release all its files on Jeffrey Epstein by a legal deadline, prompting lawmakers to accuse it of breaking federal law.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Friday that the department would release "several hundred thousand documents," including photographs and other materials. He stated this would not be the complete set of files.
The release is required under the "Epstein Act," a law passed to provide full transparency about the financier and convicted sex offender's crimes and associates.
Top legislators on Capitol Hill immediately condemned the move. They called the DOJ's decision a clear violation of the law and threatened to take legal action against the department.
