Africa CDC Demands Immediate End to Zimbabwe Sanctions

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has called for the immediate and unconditional lifting of unilateral sanctions on Zimbabwe. The agency is backing an appeal made on 23 October 2026 by Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission. Africa CDC said it stands with the people of Zimbabwe. It also joins the African Union and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in supporting the call. Sanctions are penalties imposed by one country on another, often to pressure its government. "Unilateral" means they are imposed by a single country rather than by a group like the United Nations.
