Ford Recalls 273,000 Vehicles: "Parking Brake May Fail, Cars Could Roll Away"

Ford is recalling approximately 273,000 vehicles in the United States due to a critical safety defect. U.S. safety regulators announced the affected vehicles have a faulty electric parking brake. The problem is a software issue within the brake system's control module. This module may fail to fully engage the parking brake. If the brake does not engage, a parked vehicle could roll away unexpectedly, causing a crash, injury, or property damage. The recall covers certain 2022-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator large SUVs. It also includes some 2022 Ford F-150 pickup trucks. Ford will notify owners of the recalled vehicles by mail starting June 17. Dealerships will update the software in the brake control module free of charge.
