Fugitive Wirecard Executive Jan Marsalek Tracked to Moscow, Linked to Russian Intelligence
German authorities continue their search for Jan Marsalek, the former Wirecard executive accused of embezzling billions of euros. New findings place him in Moscow, where he is believed to be operating under the protection of Russian intelligence.
For years, German police have sought Marsalek on suspicion of massive fraud related to the collapse of the Wirecard payment company. He is also suspected of working as an agent for the FSB, Russia's main security agency.
According to an investigation by the German news magazine DER SPIEGEL, Marsalek's location has been confirmed. The report states he was successfully tracked down and is living in Moscow.
