Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund Danantara will focus its investments on three strategic sectors by 2027: critical minerals, industrial downstreaming, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The fund announced the plan on Thursday, signaling a push to strengthen Indonesia's position in industries tied to the global energy transition and advanced technology.
Critical minerals are raw materials such as nickel and cobalt that are essential for batteries and electronics. Downstreaming refers to processing raw materials locally into higher-value products instead of exporting them unprocessed.
