A Turkish teachers' union has taken the Ministry of National Education (MEB) to court over new rules for the country's common written exam system. The union, Eğitim-İş, filed the case with the Council of State (Danıştay), Turkey's top administrative court.
The dispute centers on two regulations. The first limits teachers' authority to prepare exam questions. The second requires schools to enter exam results question by question into e-Okul, the ministry's online student records system.
Eğitim-İş argues that the changes overstep the ministry's reach and undercut teachers' professional role in preparing and grading exams. The union is asking the court to suspend and annul the regulations.
