US envoy Steve Witkoff has held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about Ukraine, Russian state news agency Tass reports.
The meeting in Moscow followed what US officials called "constructive" talks between Witkoff and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Norway.
In his first exchange with the US envoy, Putin said he was interested in restoring ties and economic cooperation with Washington. He praised a diesel deal with US President Donald Trump.
Putin also recalled Trump's comments on the need to end the war in Ukraine to stop the loss of human life, and asked about the talks in Oslo.
