Musk says SpaceX and Tesla exploring blockbuster merger

Elon Musk said SpaceX and Tesla Inc. have formed special committees to explore a potential merger — a first step toward what could become the largest corporate tie-up in history. "I do think there's a lot of merit to combining the companies," said Musk, who is chief executive officer of both companies. He spoke Tuesday on SpaceX's earnings webcast. "There's a lot to be gained from cooperating on developing superintelligence software," he added. Musk said he is not taking part in the committees' discussions.
