Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's re-election coalition reported alleged unequal treatment by Meta to the United Nations on Saturday. The coalition claims Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, favored rival Senator Flávio Bolsonaro.
The coalition also asked the Prosecutor General's Office and the Federal Police to investigate possible illegal funding of Bolsonaro's campaign.
The reported incidents include reduced reach for Lula's Instagram profiles. WhatsApp searches for the "Lula's Army" channel suggested the "Flávio's Troop" channel instead.
Meta attributes the incidents to technical errors.
