US President Donald Trump has decided to hold off on new measures against Russia. He said he does not want to take any action that would "drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table."
The decision comes as Washington pushes for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Trump argued that new sanctions or pressure at this stage could derail fragile negotiations.
"We don't want to do anything that would undermine the talks," he said. The White House has not announced a timeline for when, or whether, the measures might be introduced.
Critics argue that delaying pressure gives Moscow more time. Supporters say keeping Russia at the table is the priority.
