Ongoing fires in Indonesia have covered parts of Southeast Asia with toxic haze, prompting the region's climate and fire monitoring agency to issue its highest-level alert.
The Singapore-based ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) activated Alert Level 3 for the Southern ASEAN region on its website, as seen on Saturday.
The ASMC, located near Singapore's Changi Airport, uses a four-tier alert system ranging from zero to three. The highest level is triggered when there is a high risk of severe haze affecting the region.
