Japanese sportswear giant ASICS is building its first research and development facility outside of Japan. The new lab will be located at the University of Michigan in the United States. The partnership aims to accelerate innovation in sports science. Researchers from ASICS and the university will study human movement and performance. Their goal is to create new products that improve athletic ability and prevent injuries. "This lab will combine our footwear expertise with the university's advanced research," said an ASICS spokesperson. The University of Michigan is known for its kinesiology and engineering programs. The move signals ASICS's strategy to strengthen its global presence. The U.S. is the company's largest market. Establishing a lab there will help ASICS develop products faster for American athletes. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year. The facility is expected to open in 2025.
