Indonesia's Wildfire Crisis Threatens Prabowo's Second Year

Fires are spreading across Indonesia's forests and farmland, raising hard questions for President Prabowo Subianto as he enters his second year in office. On a small patch of land, Mama Lifa and her offspring, Lifa, were found isolated among acacia trees after fires swept through the area. Their plight reflects a wider problem. Wildfires are once again burning across several regions, threatening wildlife, farmland, and air quality. The fires pose a direct challenge to the government's environmental and disaster response policies. How Prabowo's administration handles the crisis in the coming months will shape its record on climate and land management. Authorities have not yet released official figures on the total area burned or the number of people affected.
