Indonesia is turning to village cooperatives to distribute government subsidies and aid.
The program, called Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP), sets up facilities in villages across the country. These cooperatives will act as local delivery points for subsidies and assistance.
The government says the move aims to make aid reach people faster and more directly.
Cooperatives are locally run organizations owned by their members. Using them as distributors could cut delays and reduce leaks in the system.
Officials have not yet said when the new distribution system will start or how many villages will take part.
