Yemen's Taiz city runs out of food as Houthis close in

📡 Guardian · 1 min read ·
People in the besieged Yemeni city of Taiz are running out of food and fuel as Houthi forces advance and cut off basic supplies. Ali Abdulsamed spent a full day walking from shop to shop, searching for food for his family of six. At every store, he found empty shelves. He could not afford petrol to travel farther — its price more than doubled last week. After visiting more than a dozen stores, he found one 25kg bag of wheat flour. It cost more than twice the usual price. He was lucky to find anything at all.
