Ukraine’s war budget has a $52 billion hole, and the army needs $45 billion more

Western allies are withholding billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine. The money will not be sent until Kyiv delivers the reforms it promised. Ukraine faces a $52 billion shortfall in its war budget. On top of that, the army needs another $45 billion. The total gap is $97 billion. This means Kyiv cannot pay for the war without more help from the West. But Western countries have paused the money. They say Ukraine must first complete the reforms it agreed to. These reforms include changes to reduce corruption and improve how the government manages money. Until those changes happen, the billions Ukraine needs will stay on hold.
