Ukraine’s largest steelworks has begun a cold shutdown after suffering extensive damage from Russian strikes. The plant’s operator said safe operation is impossible while the war continues.
The shutdown will take two months to complete safely. After that, the plant will mothball its industrial assets.
Any restart depends on conditions after the war ends.
