Hong Kong's Egyptian Exhibit Set to Be Museum's Biggest Money-Maker

The Hong Kong Palace Museum predicts its current ancient Egyptian exhibition will become its most profitable show ever. Director Louis Ng Chi-wa revealed the forecast on Thursday. He said about 76,000 visitors had seen "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums" in its first four weeks. "We expected it would be popular, but it is even more popular," Ng said. The museum also announced plans for nine other exhibitions in the coming year. Details of those future shows were not immediately provided. The Egyptian display features hundreds of artefacts. It highlights the institution's strategy to host major international cultural events.
