The Israeli military launched new airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday. This action comes despite a fragile ceasefire holding on the main Gaza front.
In a statement, the Israeli army said the attacks targeted sites used by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The stated goal was to remove an immediate threat.
There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah or from Lebanese government authorities. The extent of any damage or casualties is not yet known.
The strikes highlight ongoing regional tensions. While a truce has paused fighting in Gaza, clashes between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanese border have continued intermittently.
