Washington has warned Kyiv it may lose military aid unless it stops attacking Russian oil refineries, officials said. The strikes have pushed up diesel prices and disrupted global energy markets.
The warning follows a deal between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on diesel supplies. US officials are now lobbying European capitals and Kyiv to halt the attacks.
The refineries are a key source of revenue for Russia’s war effort. But Washington fears the strikes could destabilize energy markets and raise costs for consumers worldwide.
Ukraine has not publicly responded to the threat. European allies are divided on whether to support the US position or continue backing Ukraine’s military strategy.
