Syria's Ministry of Health reports a sharp increase in acute respiratory infections across the country. Officials state seasonal influenza is the primary cause.
The Ministry confirmed the rise in a recent statement. It said the number of severe cases requiring hospitalization is normal for this time of year.
The announcement was made on the Ministry's official Telegram channel. It cited national surveillance data, which tracks disease patterns.
Authorities are urging the public to take standard flu precautions. These include vaccination, frequent hand washing, and avoiding close contact with sick individuals.
