British Prime Minister Andy Burnham warned French and German voters on Sunday about possible Russian interference in their upcoming elections. He pointed to what he called "clear" Russian meddling in Britain's 2016 referendum on European Union membership — commonly known as Brexit.
Russia has denied interfering in the Brexit vote. Former British leader Boris Johnson also said in 2020 that there was no evidence of interference.
Burnham made his comments in an interview with "The Rest is Politics" podcast, released on Sunday.
