Indian police detained the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party and two other leaders on Tuesday, shortly before they could leave their flight. The detentions came ahead of a planned protest.
The party, whose name uses the Hindi word for "people," planned to demonstrate against alleged misconduct during a nationwide voter-roll revision. The protest was set to target India's election commission.
The three leaders were taken into custody before they could disembark.
