US President Donald Trump says Russia has agreed to immediately deliver more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global markets.
The deal follows a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump called the conversation "very successful," according to Reuters.
Trump says Russia will then deliver 3 million tons of diesel soon. The exact timing depends on the condition of Russia's refineries.
The US Treasury has issued a temporary license allowing Russian diesel into the market. Reuters reports the license permits the sale, delivery, unloading, and import of diesel of Russian origin until April 7, 2027.
Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy for Putin, praised the cooperation between Russia and the US on diesel.
