Ghislaine Maxwell has filed a new legal petition demanding her immediate release from prison. She argues that prosecutors improperly withheld evidence during her 2021 trial.
In the legal filing, Maxwell claims this hidden information would have proven her innocence. She also states that false testimony was presented to the jury that convicted her.
Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking and other charges for helping the financier Jeffrey Epstein abuse underage girls. She is serving a 20-year sentence.
Her latest appeal, known as a habeas petition, is a separate challenge to her conviction. The court has not yet ruled on her claims about new evidence.
