Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has started public road tests for its most advanced self-driving technology. This move comes shortly after China's government began easing restrictions on the systems.
The company is testing what is known as "Level 3" autonomous driving. This level allows a car to drive itself under certain conditions, but requires the driver to be ready to take control. BYD is conducting the tests in Shenzhen, the city where it is headquartered.
According to a company-confirmed report, BYD has already completed over 150,000 kilometers of real-world testing. The goal is to prepare the technology for mass production in future vehicles.
This development signals a major step in the global race to bring more automated vehicles to market. BYD, as the world's largest seller of EVs, is positioning itself as a leader in this next phase of automotive technology.
