Russian bomb hits bus in Kramatorsk, killing at least 30
At least 30 people are dead and 18 wounded after a Russian airstrike hit a bus in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, according to the Donetsk region prosecutor's office. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on X that Russia dropped an airstrike on the city that struck a public transport stop. Earlier estimates from Zelensky and local officials put the death toll at 12. The Kramatorsk city council said the attack hit a bus carrying passengers. The Donetsk region prosecutor's office released images showing at least one burned bus and other vehicles, alongside pixelated bodies lying on a road covered in debris. The office said two buses were at "the epicenter" of the explosion. Prosecutors said Russia used a UMPB D-30 SN glide bomb in the attack. A glide bomb is a weapon fitted with wings and guidance systems that let it travel long distances to its target. Ukrainian authorities are investigating the strike as a war crime. Local authorities say Moscow has intensified drone and guided-bomb attacks on Kramatorsk and other cities along Ukraine's defensive line in the Donetsk region. Russia has demanded that Ukraine give up the rest of the region still under its control before halting hostilities, a demand Kyiv has rejected.
