Philippines Denies Terrorist Training for Bondi Beach Attack Suspects

The Philippines has rejected suggestions that two suspects in a recent attack at Bondi Beach received terrorist training in its country. National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano stated on Wednesday there is no evidence the alleged father-and-son gunmen underwent military training during their time in the Philippines. He emphasized that a simple visit does not prove terrorist activity. "The duration of their stay would not have permitted any meaningful or structured training," Ano said in an official statement. The suspects are accused of opening fire on a Hanukkah celebration at the Australian beach. The incident is being investigated as a potential act of violent extremism. Ano described linking the attack to training in the Philippines as an "outdated and unsubstantiated portrayal." He reiterated the country's commitment to global counter-terrorism efforts.
