China's Picea to Buy Roomba, Cementing Smart Vacuum Dominance

Chinese robotics firm Picea is acquiring iRobot, the American maker of the Roomba vacuum. This deal follows the collapse of iRobot's planned sale to Amazon last year, which was blocked by regulators. The move solidifies China's control of the global smart vacuum market. Data shows Chinese suppliers held the top five spots for worldwide shipments in early 2025. Market leader Roborock held a 21.7% share, shipping 3.8 million units. The Picea-iRobot deal is expected to further strengthen China's position in this key consumer robotics sector.
