Warner Bros. Discovery has rejected a massive takeover attempt from rival Paramount. The company's board is urging shareholders to vote against the $108.4 billion hostile bid.
Board members stated the offer from Paramount and its partner Skydance did not include solid proof of financing. They called the bid "hostile," meaning it was made without the board's initial support.
Instead, the board favors a separate merger deal with streaming giant Netflix. Officials declared the Netflix terms provide "superior, more certain value for our shareholders."
The move signals a major shift in the media landscape. A Warner Bros. and Netflix combination would create an entertainment powerhouse in both film and streaming.
