UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said there are "strong indications" that Iran was involved in the incident at Fairford airbase, according to Sky News.
Speaking to the BBC, Burnham was more direct: "We will say more in time, but we can confirm that we believe Iran played a role," the prime minister said.
Iran has denied any involvement in the incident.
